Happy Christmas everybody! I don't want to ramble on too much, so here are some of my favorite Christmas tunes. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Happy listening!

Hello again, music lovers! When I was trying to decide which song I wanted to share, this one caught my attention. Remember how I said the video for the last song made me homesick for Washington? Well, the lyrics in this one have succeeded in making me homesick again (except instead of moving back to CA, I moved back to AZ... boo). I've heard the song a million times (it's on one of my favorite playlists!), but never has it made me feel such a way. Maybe it was just the right song and the right moment? Anyway, I love it and I hope you will too.

Happy listening!

I adore this song. There's just something about it. I can't put my finger on it. It's all just so... soothing? Calming? Ethereal? Something like that. Also, I realize now that I've never watched the video. It looks like Washington and makes me homesick. Hee hee. In fact, all the songs I've been sharing the last few weeks are still stuck in my head! Happy listening!

One of the joys of living in the Pacific Northwest is the amazing music scene. Seriously. Seattle is the birthplace of so many amazing musicians and groups, it's hard to keep track! One Seattle band I fell in love with whilst going to college at Washington State was The Classic Crime. Their song Who Needs Air, from the album Albatross, is simply phenomenal and I immediately fell in love with it. Then came their Acoustic Ep: Seattle Sessions. You simply HAVE to listen to the song Seattle... it's stellar. A few more albums later and we come to their most recent magnificent release, Phoenix. I kid you not, this is The Classic Crime in peak form. SO! Since I've been missing WA, I thought I'd celebrate the awesomeness that it produces by sharing just a few of the amazing tracks from this new album. Happy listening!

I feel like a little more Stars. I've been in the mood for specific bands, albums and songs, lately. Do you ever get in those moods, too? This song popped up on my iPod while I was waiting for work to start and I just knew I had to share it this week. I hope you enjoy yet another Stars song. Happy listening!

This is a band I had the privilege to see during their first live performance. So a million years ago, my friends and I drove to Seattle for a concert to see Amber Pacific (performing for the last time with Matt! sniff sniff) and their third opening act, Mêlée. Little did we know we'd become fans of another group during the show. The guys were not only talented, but super nice as well. Oh how I love when bands feature local/new groups during their shows! I switched old CD mixes in my car again... then I was reminded how much I love them! Anywhoozle... I'm rambling. I hope you guys love them too. Happy listening!

I was feeling a little nostalgic this last week, so I decided to pop in one of my old favorite mixed CD's. I love mixed CD's. You can put heaps of favorite songs all together to create a mood or remind you of a certain event or whatever. The variety! I love it. Anyway. The album I selected for my commute started out with this song and I was immediately taken back to the first time I fell in love with it. Oh the memories. Happy listening!

I'm back! Did ya miss me? Hee hee. Last week I missed Tune in Tuesday because I went back "home" to Washington state! I had such a blast visiting with my friends and meeting their little one (cutest little girl EVER)! Though I would much rather still be in WA, I'm excited to share another tune this week. So here goes...

I've been really enjoying Frightened Rabbit lately, and this is my favorite right now. I pretty much love everything about it. I hope you enjoy it, too!

My sister and I went out and about today and I decided I'd be a nice big sister and let her pick the cd (the radio stations here seriously suck). After surfing through them all, she picked an old mixed cd of songs I haven't really listened to in ages! It was great to be reminded how much I love these tracks. This was always one of our favorite songs on that mix, so it's no surprise we both had to sing loudly along. It was so much fun, I figured I'd share it today with all of you! Happy listening!

We're going to have so much fun! Now I don't have to be all sad about the lack of Tune in Tuesdays. This is such a good thing. So... after my one week break, here's my pick!

Back to the Books Giveaway Hop Winner!

The second annual Back to the Books Giveaway Hop has come to an end. I am so pleased with the response to this giveaway! Again, I have some fantastic reads to add to my TBR pile, thanks to all your fabulous comments. I also had a blast seeing what everyone got to read in school. Sometimes school reads are torture, but there are some that remind you why reading is so magical. I wanted to thank our hosts, I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Buried in Books for their dedication and work to make this giveaway possible. I also wanted to thank all of those who visited my stop on the Hop. I s'pose it's about that time... time to announce the winner!

The winner of the Back to the Books Giveaway Hop is...

Repeat Review: "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
Reading Level: Young Adult
Paperback: 343 pages
Publisher: St Martin's Press
Release Date: 1998 March 15 (first published in 1948)
Source: Personal Collection
Buy the book: Amazon/Book Depository

I Capture the Castle tells the story of seventeen-year-old Cassandra and her family, who live in not-so-genteel poverty in a ramshackle old English castle. Here she strives, over a six-month period, first in a sixpenny book, then in a shilling book, and, finally, in a splendid two-guinea book, to hone her writing skills. And it is within these pages that she candidly chronicles her encounters with the estate's new, young, and handsome American landlords, the effects of her sister Rose's marital ambitions, her writer's-blocked father's anguished and ultimately renewed creativity, and her own hopeless, first descent into love.

By the time she pens her final entry, she has "captured the castle" - and the heart of the reader - in one of literature's most enchanting entertainments.

Just so's ya know, Tune in Tuesday will be taking a break for a while. (For more information, check out Ginger's post here.) I'm sad to see it go, but perhaps that will give me more incentive to post other things more often...? Well, that's what I keep telling myself. I really don't know what I'm going to do without it! When I found out this was to be the last one for a while, I wanted to do some super-fantastic-blow-your-mind-awesome post... but, seeing as I already had heaps of drafts ready to share - and I'm being kind of lazy - I picked one of those instead. Ahem. So! Without further ado, here is my last Tune in Tuesday! Well, until it starts back up again, that is. Anyway...

This week I have decided to share some Bombay Bicycle Club. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the awesomeness. Happy listening!

But when Elder learns shocking news about the ship, he and Amy race to discover the truth behind life on Godspeed. They must work together to unlock a mystery that was set in motion hundreds of years earlier. Their success - or failure - will determine the fate of the 2,298 passengers aboard Godspeed. But with each step, the journey becomes more perilous, the ship more chaotic, and the love between them more impossible to fight.

Beth Revis catapulted readers into the far reaches of space with her New York Times bestselling debut, Across the Universe. In A Million Suns, Beth deepens the mystery with action, suspense, romance, and deep philosophical questions. And this time it all builds to one mind-bending conclusion:

They have to get off this ship.

I was introduced to this great group a month or so ago by a friend at work (yay for musical friends!) and now I love them. There's just something about them, ya know? Their new album, Forever So, came out in July and it's stellar. I couldn't decide which song to share, so I'm sharing the first I ever heard, followed by my favorite as of right this second... this changes a lot, though. Hee hee. If you like what you hear below, be sure to check out their album! Happy listening!

Tune in Tuesday (51) - My Teen Years!

One of my favorite things to do is share the music I enjoy. Each week we'll be posting some of our favorites to spread the love of music. So link up and join the fun!

We are now at the end of My Teen Years edition of Tune in Tuesday, folks. It was such a blast getting to see what everyone listened to during those pivotal years. It was also fun trying to remember what I listened to during those days.

For my last post, I've decided to focus on one specific age. For some reason, 19 tends to get looked over when thinking of teenagers, I think. Maybe it's because people consider you an "adult" when you turn 18... though you don't drop the "teen" at the end of your age until a couple years later. So, this week's edition of Tune in Tuesday is dedicated to that forgotten teen year: 19! Happy listening!

Team Kilt Giveaway Hop!

Hello, all! Today I've decided to do a little something special. If you've been hanging out in the YA book blogging community lately, you may have noticed a little something called the YA Crush Tourney. This is a tourney hosted by the awesome chickadees at The YA Sisterhood and is dedicated to showcasing some of the most crush-worthy guys in YA fiction. Basically, you vote for hot guys. Sweet, right? Well, today is an epic day. One of my personal favorites, Zachary Moore from Jeri Smith-Ready's Shade trilogy, is up against a formidable foe today. We of #TeamKilt (Zachary's amazing group of fans) are joining together to get as many votes for our beloved Zach as possible. In order to help out, I've decided to participate in the Team Kilt Giveaway Hop hosted by Karen at For What It's Worth.

So what am I giving away? Oh nothing, just...

Now this... is weird. Not only is it my 50th Tune in Tuesday post, but it's also my 100th blog post... WHOA! Am I the only one that finds this fascinating? Anywhoozle... carrying on.

So! More teen tunes, yeah? We are approaching the end of my teenage years. This week I'll be talking about ages 17 (the year I graduated... yikes!) and 18. I don't know what it is, but the music during my 18th year was insanely amazing... this is going to be immensely tough. Le sigh.

Ready for more teen tunes? I sure hope so, because it's time to share music from when I was 15 and 16. Yikes! :) I'm noticing that it's getting harder and harder to narrow down my picks as the month progresses. This was a time of some really awesome music, so that's not too terribly surprising I guess. Happy listening!

Hello, my lovelies! I just wanted to let you guys all know that I had a wonderful birthday. It was quiet and spent with two of my favorite people in the world. Of course, in a perfect world, ALL my favorite people could have been here with me, but they sent their love anyway.

I truly loved getting to know everyone a little better in the comments. You guys have some awesome hobbies and new loves! You also gave me some ideas for giveaways in the future, so thanks! Thanks very much for all the birthday wishes, too!

So it's about that time to announce the winner, don't you think? I actually thought I had posted this last week, but apparently it's been sitting in my draft folder. Oops! Anywhoozle... ahem. The winner of my Birthday Giveaway is......

(Announcer voice) We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. (Crackle crackle crackle.)

Oh my word, I'm in such a weird mood. Anyway... ahem. After cheating a bit last week in celebration of my birthday, I'm excited to share My Teen Years tunes for the rest of the month. Now, this is going to age me, but a lot of my teen years were spent in the 90's. You may recall, when I first started doing Tune in Tuesdays, I jumped in during the 1990's Edition. To refrain from having a lot of duplicate tunes and/or artists from that, I really have to pay attention to what I'm sharing this time. Yikes.

I've always had fairly eclectic tastes in music, including oldies, classical, world, showtunes, you name it. I've decided to share songs released during my years as a teenager. In other words, I'll be sharing some favorite tracks released when I was 13 to 19, as opposed to the oldies I also listened to. Maybe one day I share some of my favorite oldies. So, on to ages 13 and 14! This is going to be interesting...

Happy listening!

Birthday Giveaway!

Hello lovelies! Today is my birthday. To take my mind off the fact that I am no longer in my twenties... ahem... I have decided to do a giveaway! Yaroo! So what am I giving away, you may be wondering? Oh nothing much, just some of my new favorite things like...

Option 1 - Some new favorite tunes (US only): My Head Is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men AND Continued Silence EP by Imagine Dragons. I'm really really REALLY in love with these two right now. I hope that there are at least some people interested in the non-book option, because these albums rock.

OR

Option 2- Your choice of ONE of these fabulous books (US & Int): Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (a favorite read of 2012) OR Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson (a book released today that I'm dying to read!) OR The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (a pre-order of a book I'm ridiculously excited about). (EDIT: If you've already read Anna and would love more from Stephanie Perkins, I'm totally open to letting the winner choose Lola and the Boy Next Door, instead. It IS amazing, too. Hee hee.)

OR

Option 3 (US & Int) - A book up to $15 from the Book Depository (as long as they ship to your country)! (Please see EDIT below, after the Rafflecopter form.)

Enter after page break!

I know today is technically supposed to be the first of My Teen Years edition of Tune in Tuesday, but I'm going to be a rebel and not start just yet because... it's my birthday! It's my birthday and I'll do what I want to. La la la. Just kidding... sort of. Hee hee. So instead of sharing some of my teen tunes, I thought I'd share a few songs that really are kind of "me" songs... and/or are where I am at this point in my life. Man, I feel old. Anywhoozle... Happy listening!

One of my favorite things to do is share the music I enjoy. Each week we'll be posting some of our favorites to spread the love of music. So link up and join the fun!

I recently finished rereading one of my favorite novels and I simply had to share this song. I've been jamming out to this album on my way to and from work all week long... it just makes me so happy! Anyway, when this song popped up, I brought me right back to I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. Well, I thought of Stephen and Cassandra, to be specific. If you have yet to read this beautiful classic, I definitely recommend it. Though I had another song prepared for this week (and I recently shared a different song from Of Monsters and Men), I just couldn't pass this opportunity up. Happy listening!

I adore this song so much. It's just so cute! I first heard this on one of Maggie Stiefvater's character playlists (which I can't seem to find the link to... dang). Really, the woman has impeccable taste in music. Anyway... I hope you fall fast in love with Ferraby Lionheart, just like I did. Happy listening!

Armchair BEA: Best of 2012!

Day two of Armchair BEA is all about our favorite 2012 reads. To be completely honest, I haven't read a whole heck of a lot this year. I think my Goodreads challenge says I'm 8 or 9 books behind my goal right now. Yikes! With that said, I have read some amazing books this year! Here are just a few of my favorites:

Tune in Tuesday (43)

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly music feature hosted by the fabulous Ginger at GReads. As some of you may know, I am ridiculously addicted to music. One of my favorite things to do is share new and favorite songs with anyone willing to listen. Or not so willing. I'm not picky. Anyway... Each week you can post a song and share the love of music. So link up and join the fun!
