Tune in Tuesday (48) - My Teen Years!

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly music feature hosted by the fabulous Ginger at GReads. As some of you may know, I am ridiculously addicted to music. One of my favorite things to do is share the music I enjoy. Each week we'll be posting some of our favorites to spread the love of music. So link up and join the fun!

(Announcer voice) We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. (Crackle crackle crackle.)

Oh my word, I'm in such a weird mood. Anyway... ahem. After cheating a bit last week in celebration of my birthday, I'm excited to share My Teen Years tunes for the rest of the month. Now, this is going to age me, but a lot of my teen years were spent in the 90's. You may recall, when I first started doing Tune in Tuesdays, I jumped in during the 1990's Edition. To refrain from having a lot of duplicate tunes and/or artists from that, I really have to pay attention to what I'm sharing this time. Yikes.

I've always had fairly eclectic tastes in music, including oldies, classical, world, showtunes, you name it. I've decided to share songs released during my years as a teenager. In other words, I'll be sharing some favorite tracks released when I was 13 to 19, as opposed to the oldies I also listened to. Maybe one day I share some of my favorite oldies. So, on to ages 13 and 14! This is going to be interesting...

Happy listening!

I'm Sensitive by Jewel

I noticed that technically this album came out months before I turned 13... but since I got if FOR my 13th birthday, I'm using it. This was my first CD that also came gifted with my first discman. Oh yes, I was moving up in the world. I remember I had been wanting this album for ages and when I got this for my birthday, I simply had to listen to it right away. When I was able to listen to the whole thing, this song quickly became my favorite.

Just A Girl by No Doubt

No Doubt at their very best, in my opinion! I listened to this album non-stop after I got it. I think I drove my family crazy in the process. Hee hee.

Real World by Matchbox Twenty

Oh my word, I love Matchbox Twenty. This is like the epitome of 90's music awesomeness. LOVE!

As Long As You Love Me by Backstreet Boys

Oh yes... in the battle of NSYNC vs Backstreet Boys, I was firmly and deeply rooted in the Backstreet Boys fandom. Really, can you get a more perfect 90's boy band? I think not!

I'll Be by Edwin McCain

I STILL love this song! I think it's timeless. Oh swoonage... :)

  2. I completely agree, I'm Just a Girl is No Doubt at their finest! Everyone always goes on about Don't Speak, but I'm such a fan of I'm Just a Girl. It definitely became a teenage anthem for me!

  4. Oh gee. Edwin McCain/Dawson's Creek moment of the century! I was never much into No Doubt (I think they got so overplayed on the radio, I got bored!) and also Matchbox 20... I always loved 3am!

  5. You and I were clearly teens at the same time -- I just yelled out "Yes and Yes and YES!" to each song as I went down your list. Great choices! I so wish No Doubt would get back together =(

  6. Nice songs! I love all of them except the Backstreet Boys - but only because when my kids were really young they listened to them a lot. But wait - No Doubt and Matchbox Twenty is from the 90's???? Gah, I feel old.
