Tune in Tuesday (33) - Book Playlists Edition!

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly music feature hosted by the fabulous Ginger at GReads. As some of you may know, I am ridiculously addicted to music. One of my favorite things to do is share new and favorite songs with anyone willing to listen. Or not so willing. I'm not picky. Anyway... Each week you can post a song and share the love of music. So link up and join the fun!
Alas, Book Playlists Edition is coming to an end. I was extremely excited about this month's special edition of Tune in Tuesday, but I guess all good things must come to an end. For those just joining in on the fun, this month is all about combining the awesomeness of books and music together. It's never too late to join in on the fun, so if you have a great idea for a book/song combo or there's an author playlist you simply adore, feel free to share it by joining the meme or letting me know in the comments!

For the last week of Book Playlists Edition, I wanted to share one of my all-time favorite author playlists. Those who know me know that I am a HUGE Maggie Stiefvater fan. Not only is she an awesome writer, but she's an artist, musician, baker and she has impeccable taste in music. Basically the woman is a goddess. (I'm about to go all fan-girly on you, by the way.) I'm such an enormously dorky fan that I've compiled her playlists for the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy (and the character playlists, too... don't judge me). I'm also happy to report that for some of the playlists, I had to purchase only one or two songs because I already had most of the music. Exciting, no?!

Well, anyway... this week I've decided to share her awesome Wolves of Mercy Falls playlists! I also want to share a song or two that I think fit the series, though they're not officially part of the playlists. So, without further ado, here's some Maggie awesomeness! (Warning: This is more than likely going to be a long post... just so's ya know.)

Weren't those playlists amazing?! Oh my word, I could listen to them all day. I did already have most of the songs on these playlists, but I was also introduced to new music. So yay! Now for my Wolves of Mercy Falls inspired songs!

The Girl by City and Colour
I wish I could do better by you
'Cause that's what you deserve
You sacrifice so much of your life
In order for this to work

While I'm off chasing my own dreams
Sailing around the world
Please know that I'm yours to keep
My beautiful girl

And when you cry a piece of my heart dies
Knowing that I may have been the cause
If you were to leave, fulfill someone else's dreams
I think I might totally be lost

But you don't ask for no diamond rings
No delicate string of pearls
That's why I wrote this song to sing
My beautiful girl

I adore Maggie's playlists, but I think there's one song that must be added... this is that song, folks. Just think of Sam. Think of Sam thinking of Grace and all they go through to be together. Think of their amazing relationship. Do you hear it? Do you? It's perfect, isn't it? Yeah, I thought so too. :)

Winter Air by Annasay
As I hold your hand
We walk familiar streets
Made brand new
Now that you're here with me
I see your eyes
You look so happy now
As the white snow flakes
Land on your dark eyebrows

There's so much I want
I want to say to you
Do you feel alive
When I'm next to you?
Do you think that love
Can exist so soon?
I'm hoping that
You feel the way I do

I think that I might
Be falling for you
I love who you are
And every little thing you do
There's a certain something
When it's me and you
I'm hoping that
You feel the way I do

I had a Sam to Grace song first, and now I have a song that makes me think of a Grace to Sam theme. If that makes sense. Anyway, I really really like this song and I think it works nicely for this series.

Furr by Blitzen Trapper
I heard my mother shouting through the fog
It turned out to be the howling of a dog
Or a wolf to be exact, the sound sent shivers down my back
But I was drawn into the pack and before long
They allowed me to join in and sing their song
So from the cliffs and highest hill, yeah

We would gladly get our fill
Howling endlessly and shrilly at the dawn
And I lost the taste for judging right from wrong
For my flesh had turned to fur, yeah
And my thoughts, they surely were
Turned to instinct and obedience to God

And now my fur has turned to skin
And I've been quickly ushered in
To a world that I confess I do not know
But I still dream of running careless through the snow
And through the howlin' winds that blow
Across the ancient distant flow

This song makes me think of the wolves... maybe a certain wolf, but I'll keep it general. I really enjoy this and I think it fits nicely. (And the video is kind of fun, too... just sayin.)

Happy listening!

  1. ADORE this series, though I never did get over the end of Forever. I still want a more concrete ending. But love the songs you picked for the series!!

    1. I hear that from a lot of people... but I'm not one of them. Of course I wouldn't be opposed to getting more story, but I was perfectly content with the way Forever ended. I'm glad you love the series & my picks! Thanks! :)

  2. Sara Bareilles and Ingred Michaelson! Love them.

I have to admit, most of these songs are new to me. I read Shiver but haven't yet gotten around to the rest of the series.

My Tune In pick is here.

    1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with new... especially when it comes to music. I hope you read (and love) the rest of the series!
