1 Year Blogoversary Bash!

Greetings, wonderful people! One year ago to the day (and time, if you're interested... I'm kooky like that), I posted my first post here on Kaleidoscopic Reveries. It wasn't much at all, but it entertained me. I didn't have any real plans about what KR was going to be, other than a way to keep me entertained while I looked for a job. Here I am a year later and my baby blog is... well, it's still kind of a baby blog, but that's okay with me. I'm enjoying myself and I think that's all that really matters in the end. Right? Right! :)

January Reading Challenge Wrap-Up

I thought I'd share a bit on how my reading challenges are going so far. I have to admit, I've only finished two books... and neither of them were for a challenge. Oops! But I do have a bit of an update for both challenges I'm participating in anyway, so here goes.

I'm in the mood for a song that makes me happy. When the soundtrack edition of Tune in Tuesday came around, I had SO MANY soundtracks I wanted to share. Why couldn't a month have more Tuesdays in it?! Sadness. Loss. Bleh. Anyway... The Dan in Real Life soundtrack was definitely top on that list of soundtracks I wanted to feature, and not just because I'm in love with this next track. This song doesn't even get 2 seconds in and I'm already grinning from ear to ear, heart totally uplifted. Honestly, I love it to bits. Sondre Lerche is a freakin' genius, I tell you! So without further ado, here's another all-time favorite song from one of my all-time favorite movies.

I've decided to continue the theme I've apparently adopted this month and share another old, nostalgic-ish song. So small story... Back in the day, I was definitely considered one of those "poor college students." When holidays came around, I couldn't afford to buy anyone anything, so I made CDs. Yes, I made mixed CDs and I make no apologies for being cheesy. I like cheesy. Anyway... So I had a group of friends spread out across the globe and for Christmas, I decided I wanted to make a CD with a bit of all of us in it. I asked them to send me a list with a few of their favorite songs. I then meshed all their picks (and mine too, of course) together, gave the mix some sort of quirky title and made a cover design for the case. It was really interesting to see what kind of music we were listening to, and then find out that that music works really well together! Understandably, a few favorite songs were discovered whilst working on this project and this week's Tune in Tuesday pick is one of those discoveries. So, without further ado...

I must be feeling nostalgic or something... here's yet another track that fits in the top-favorite-of-all-time category! When I first discovered this song, life was pretty dang good. So when this amazing track popped up on my shuffled iPod at work today, it just brought back all sorts of happy memories. (It's just too bad the band broke up... :( Aw, man!) I adore this song like you wouldn't believe and I hope you guys enjoy it too!

For my second edition of Tune in Tuesday this year, I decided to share yet another favorite of all time. If you have yet to hear the awesomeness that is Sean Fournier, you're in for a treat. Well, I think you're in for a treat. Okay, so I prefer the acoustic version of this song and that's what I'm going to share with you today. I hope you like it!

For my first Tune in Tuesday of 2012, I thought I'd share one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. I LOVE THIS SONG! It makes me so happy! I can't help but smile every single time I hear it. I even have it set as my alarm, so I get to wake up to it each and every day. What better way to wake up, eh? As for the video, I think it's perfect. Perfectly silly and fun. What a great way to start the new year!
